La Roux Food Truck - Southern Fried Apple Nachos - Special Edition by Nacho Connoisseurs Traci and Chris

Traci and Chris just couldn't pass up the opportunity to try Southern Fried Apple Nachos when they saw them on the menu at the La Roux food truck.  Mahalo nacho friends for spending the time taking pictures and notes when you found unique and delicious nachos in the wild.  We appreciate you sharing with us and from how you describe them, sounds like we missed out on something super yummy!

NACHOLIBRA:

There was a bit of a wait for them... maybe they were freshly baking the apples or funnel cake??

First impressions: OMG. Ice cream and whipped cream mound!! Nice touch with the caramel drizzle.  Whoever decided to turn apple pie into nachos deserves an award.

Rad: Crunchy, sugar-coated chips. In love with the caramel - it's a thin, sweet caramel sauce that accents the cinnamon and apples beautifully!

Lame: The contrast of warm and cold confuses my teeth. 😝

Chip to topping ratio: 4.5 - all delicious! We managed our toppings well and there were just enough apple pieces for the chips. The ice cream melted into soupy goodness with that caramel sauce and the chips were perfect to scoop it up.

Overall: 4.75 - So yummy!! They lost a fraction of a point for the wait. Next time we'll just have to order while we're still eating dinner!

Super crunchy!  Nom nom nom nom nom

Eating them quickly!

OUR BEERDED SAVIOR:

First impression - It took a while to make but the presentation was great; sugary chips, apples that look like they're straight out of a pie, a big scoop of ice cream & whip cream!

Rad- it's dessert nachos. Who doesn't like dessert!

Lame - ice cream melted before we finished.

Ratio - could have had a few more Apple pieces. Ran out just before the end. Hard to keep ice cream frozen in hawaii's summer.

Overall  - 4.5

Super messy in the beard...saving those delicious apple drips for later...
