5 Year Anniversary Party at Mexico Cantina

The Nacho Friends got together to celebrate the 5-year anniversary of the Nacho Blog at Mexico Cantina where we had the entire corner of the lanai reserved for our special night. The plan was to have a bunch of great tables and sit in the open air with the view of the ocean while we devoured custom nachos created just for our group for that night.  Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas.  It rained on us and it rained hard.  We suddenly became a much closer group all squeezing into the small area next to the bar.  It ended up working out great as we turned it into a nacho buffet. Special thank you to Jose for concocting fun new recipes for the nacho friends to try out.  The pineapple and BBQ sauce was a huge hit as were the chile verde nachos suggested by our beautiful bartendress, Mindy.  She kept our glasses full and was very accommodating when our group had to invade her bar space because of the inclement weather.  Our server Molly took great care of our large party and split our checks up with a smile. Nacho Granny was even happy when she found someone as picky as her and they were able to customize nachos with only the toppings they wanted.  They dubbed them Picky Bitchos.  Overall it was a fabulous night with fabulous friends.  Cheers to 5 more years of eating nachos you crazy kids!  #nachonerds #nachofriends #nachoponcho #nachosinparadise #nachobff #nachotwins #putquesoinmyfaceo

Picky Bitchos

Lizzy (4) – PRESENTATION: Lots of cheese. Thank heavens that Autumn is as picky as I am! RAD: Everything tasted fresh, good sized chips. I liked the ground beef. LAME: Most were hard for picky girls to eat. So the picky bitch nachos were perfect. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4, there was enough you just had to rearrange to get to them. Sad it was raining, the lanai looked inviting.  Everyone was nice.

HMO (5) – PRESENTATION: So many choices. RAD: Love the local outside choices. LAME: Expensive. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: Lovely, enjoyed chatting with the owner.  Fabulous, thank you for my last nacho night.

Nacho Granny (5) – PRESENTATION: A marvelous spread of cripy cheese over all my favorite toppings!  Delicious! RAD: Custom toppings! LAME: I only wish the sour cream was in smaller dollops all arolund the nachos.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4, there were a few naked chips on the second layer. Time for a nacho sandwich. Pretty tasty!  As always, the company was the best!

Nacho Nacho (5) – PRESENTATION: Looking good!  Big Platters. Loaded nachos. Custom creations of nachos were great! RAD: They made 6 different types of nachos for us. Also happy hour! LAME: Sharing all the nachos, I want more of all of them. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5, The service was amazing. The atmosphere was great. Mindy & Molly were fantastic!

Grady (4) – PRESENTATION: Buffet style. RAD: Many types! LAME: Rain! TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4. Great atmosphere! Great Service!

Kimi (4) – PRESENTATION: Loaded. RAD: I ran out of chips before toppings. LAME: BBQ and pineapple are NO! for toppings.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5, great!  They should control the weather.

Brando (4) – PRESENTATION: Brings me back to my Cali days.  Lots of cheese, covering the unknown,  tempting you to dive in, like that rich asshole's pool down the street you walked past on your way home from work. RAD: Beans & cheese, lots of beans and cheese. Nachos on this island, for the most part are severely lacking in these essentials. A good nacho plate should make you question your cholesterol level. LAME: Mariachis didn't serenade me.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4, plenty of toppings, plenty of chips. I realize this may look bias cause Shan woks here, but I have to believe she shared some of her nacho wisdom. Nailed it. I'm easy, give me a bunch of cheese, beans, meat, aquacate, I'm good.  Also the selection, plenty to choose from. I've been here before but I drank too many margaritas to remember it.  This is a good place with a good staff.  They took care of us. I'll come back to eat some chicken nachos and margs, and forget I did that, then do it again.

Mike (4.7834) – PRESENTATION: Awesome, love how large and melty. RAD: Great selection. LAME: Couldn't notice the difference between different nacho plates.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: Plenty toppings.

Jim (5!) – PRESENTATION: Awesome spread! RAD: Special recipes just for the nacho blog! LAME: Rain. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: A bit cheesy.  Excellent atmosphere and service.

Sierra (4.5) – PRESENTATION: Mouth watering. RAD: Everything!  The company, Shannon! LAME: Wasn't a fan of the pineapple nachos. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4. Molly is great!

Alicia (4.07) – PRESENTATION: A lot of the toppings were hidden under the cheese.  I thought there was less but it was a nice surprise. RAD: Mindy's margaritas (and all the nachos). LAME: The rain. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: I tried everything but the pineapple ones. I thought the ratio was good. But maybe could have used a little more.

Jaime (4) – PRESENTATION: Massive mountains of nachos. RAD: Chile verde is bomb AF here. LAME: Chip to topping ratio. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3, miss Mexico food, sooooo ono.

Wang Pride (5) – PRESENTATION: Don't know specifically which nacho dish I liked but presentation was great!  RAD: All nacho dishes were rad! LAME: Nothing lame here! TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5.  Great place to be! Will definitely recommend this place to others.

Nacho Libra (5) – PRESENTATION: Yummy plates! RAD: So many options! Two different kinds of nachos with pineapple! Our bartender. LAME: I had to share! TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5. Margaritas were super yummy! I am so glad that we had the lanai, it was cozy and fun!

Shananigans (4) – PRESENTATION: What a beautiful table of so many different kinds of nachos! RAD: I love the flavor of the pineapple and BBQ sauce.  Even though I am not a fan of lettuce on nachos, it really works with the chile verde ones. LAME: These aren't available on the menu to order again! TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.5, excellent distribution of toppings to chips.  Some empty chips at the bottom but we used those to scoop up all the extra toppings on our plates.  Mexico Cantina I love you!
