Nachos in Paradise: Rivals Waikiki - We finally exchanged our Christmas gifts

Once upon a time some lovely ladies decided to do a small holiday gift exchange. Christmas came and went and we were all so busy that we were not able to schedule a night together. Every time we would get something scheduled, something came up and we had to re-schedule. Finally just met at Rivals while Kim was working so that we could give each other our damn presents that were gathering dust in our apartments. My good friend from Alaska that I hadn't seen in years just happened to show up that day for two nights so instead of re-scheduling again, I just brought him with me. What man wouldn't enjoy the company of four lovely ladies and some NACHOS!

This was my first time eating the nachos at Rivals since we had tried to conquer The Colossus several years ago. We tried and lost. The Colossus lived up to its name for sure. Sadly The Colossus is no longer on the menu. It was epic. It even came complete with a beefy surprise. LOL. We miss you Colossus! The new nachos at Rivals are much smaller and were somewhat disappointing. Good thing it was Monday so it was half off! The steak was flavorful and yummy, but the cheese was sparse and not even completely melted. Amateur move! Melt that cheese!

Overall it was a fabulous night with the lovely ladies and our gifts were sparkly and magical. I can't wait until we can somehow find a day off to play together.

Rivals Signature Nachos $16 - Nachos served on a pizza pan and topped with jack and cheddar cheeses, jalapenos, sour cream, salsa and your choice of chicken, steak or kalua pork. Half off on Mondays after 7pm.

Tanya (5) – PRESENTATION: Yummy! RAD: I love steak! LAME: It is not evenly distributed cheese and meat to the chips. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3, Not enough toppings on each chip. I would eat them again. More cheese and meat! Love the bartenders!

Zac (2) – RAD: The Wait staff is bad ass. LAME: More cheese, por favor. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 2. Not a lot of toppings. Nachos are always ok. But these nachos were not above average. Try a little harder.

Shananigans (2.75) – PRESENTATION: Half-off Mondays after 7, $16 regular. Big plate. Looks baked, I love baked nachos. RAD: Jalapeños, real cheese, steak yummy. LAME: Horrible cheese layering. WTF? TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3, Lots of empty chips. Kinda boring, cheese should be spread out. Best bartenders ever work here: Kim, Tanya and Brooke!

Brooke Champagne Queso Goodin (3) – PRESENTATION: Ohhh cheese!!! RAD: They're half price on Mondays after 7pm! LAME: Not the jazziest nachos. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: Pretty descent, Minimal chips left at the end. Somebody could feed them to me while wearing plastic gloves. Service is fantabulous! Best bartenders!
