Homemade Trashcan Nachos + Ko Hana Rum Tour

Once upon a time we decided we wanted to do the Ko Hana rum tour in Kunia (https://www.kohanarum.com/tours-tasting) and then have a slumber party at our friends apartment in Mililani. Pro Tip: Get a group together and buy the Groupon to save you some money. We highly recommend the funny and super knowledgeable staff at the rum distillery. It is a fabulous way to spend an afternoon.

What better way to enjoy a slumber party than to make homemade trashcan nachos after the rum tour? To celebrate our trashcan nacho adventure, we even wore the #nachoponchos out to the rum tour. The employees loved us, the other people on the tour just thought we were weird.  I am so lucky to have such fun friends that will humor me by sporting these really rad outfits.

I have had the pleasure of eating trashcan nachos in Vegas. They are amazing because they are all super layered with melty cheese when that giant can comes off. We didn't have a coffee can, or whatever they use in that restaurant, but we did have a springform pan. BRILLIANT! We cooked up some meat and chopped up the ingredients. I even made some queso to give it that extra ooey gooey pop. After layering as much as we could in the springform, we popped them in the oven to let everything bake together. When we pulled them out of the oven, they were bubbly and smelled sooooo good. They slid right out of the springform and we sliced off sections like it was a pie. Nom nom nom NACHO PIE. Even though they weren't technically in a trashcan, they were a huge success. Please try this at home sometime.

Tasting all the rums!
