Nachos in Paradise: Circle Island NACHO TOUR: North Shore Tacos + Kualoa Beach Time

We left Chile Relleno thinking we ate too much and there's no way there is room for more nachos in this day... Turns out that after frolicking at the beach, there's always more room for nachos.

It was by far one of the most beautiful days I had experienced in years out at Kualoa.Beach Park. The water was flat and glassy and you could see the Koolaus stretch far across the island. We grabbed some cold beers and margaritas and floated around in the warm water. We could have stayed there all day long, but alas we were on a mission and we were not even half way through completing it. Whose idea was it to try to eat 5 nachos in one day on a Circle Island Tour anyway?

After basking in the sun, we headed to Hauula to go to North Shore Tacos. This place is one of my favorite restaurants to stop in for nachos on the island, but I just don't make it there very often because it is so far from town. I love their cute little surfing taco logo that is so similar to the Nachos In Paradise surfing chip artwork. I also love their housemade hot sauce that you can buy to take home with you. They bottle it up fresh for each order. It is so spicy and delicious. The nachos come out smothered in real cheese and oozing with flavor.

This was also the location where we realized how old we are getting when we all opted for coffee instead of beers because we were getting tired and had so much more of our day left.

Gnarly Nachos: One gnarly mound of chips, cheese, beans, your choice of meat, signature Surf Sauce, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo - $9.55 for chicken, beef, or sweet pork or $12.45 for shrimp, fish, or steak.

Leah (4) - PRESENTATION: Scoops guac, salsa, sour cream, side of suace, melty cheese, pulled pork. RAD: Good coffee, very tasty, whole beans, homemade hot sauce. LAME: Not enough sour cream & guac, not enough toppings, not layered. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4:1 chip:toppings. Open dining are.

Carly (3) - PRESENTATION: Looks extra cheeeeeeesy, sour cream, guac, salsa. RAD: Delicious meat, good sauces. LAME: not enough guac or sour cream. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3.5.

Shananigans (4.5) - PRESENTATION: Baked! Is that ranch? Lots of real cheese, super skimpy on the guac and sour. RAD: Ranch is a nice touch. The housemade hot sauce is so good and makes my eyes water. The sweet pork is bursting with flavor. LAME: All that melty cheese makes the chips and toppings stick together and come off of the other chips when you pull one off. Except the beans that all fall to the bottom and don't get to be a part of the nacho chip party headed to your mouth. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3.75, not enough toppings, empty chips at the bottom. Excellent flavor combo with the pork and hot sauce. Open air, nice music, adorable staff, cute logo. I will go back any day!
