Kona Brewing (Oahu)

Kelly and I had just gotten done with the lovely Makapu'u lighthouse hike and were thirsty for some beer and hungry for some nachos!  Kona is located in fancy pants Hawaii Kai, has nice open seating on the Koko marina, and has lots of great seasonal beers you can't find in the stores.  The new seasonal ESB is great but they are always out of the Hefeweizen (in my opinion, the perfect style of beer for Hawaii).  The waiters asked if Kelly and I were on our honeymoon.  When we told them that we lived here both guys cordially introduced themselves to us and gave us some free samples.  Big ups!  Anyway enough beer and more nachos!  Kelly and I went out on a limb and ordered a "personal size" for 10 bucks to split between the two of us.  As you can clearly see, quantity was definitely not an issue.

The nachos came with black beans, jalapenos, corn, black olives, diced tomatoes, two kinds of cheese, corn, a side of salsa, and a side of sour cream.  Here's the breakdown!

Kelly (2) The chef needs to go back to Nacho U!  RAD: I'm feeling the black olives and corn and those chips are nice and warm!  LAME: Too many Jalapenos.  Salsa is too chunky and "can't get in there!"

Is that marinara or salsa?
Steve (3) RAD: Lots of cheese on top and "this is not government cheese!"  I like the slightly burnt edges of the cheese!  LAME: Chips too broken up and losing their integrity yo!  The mound of nachos is stone cold in the center and has uncooked cheese!

Amateur mistake man, amateur!
Average score of 2.5
P.S. Last time we went to Kona we ran into Dog.  How awesome is that?
