Sand Villa Nacho Night

The Nacho Friends met up in Waiks at Sand Villa to see if the nachos taste as good for dinner as they do at 3am after a night of painting the town red.  We got there early to snag the big table in the back, and get a few drinks on happy hour that ended at 7pm.  The table was nice and large so all 10 of us could sit around it, and we could have even sat more.  There was no music at all back there which made for the time we were waiting for the nachos to arrive to slowly tick by.  We had the pleasure of welcoming two brand new nacho connoisseurs to the gang, Mark and Andy.  As well as Melynne actually participating in her first "group" outing.  We ordered one of each of the meats and Mr. Cowabunga ordered his special since he has some allergies.  The kalua pork was the best, the chicken and beef being just so-so.  The boring Cowabunga nachos were actually quite delightful even though they lacked many of the toppings.  After the nachos, we walked down the street to end the night with some karaoke at Wang Chungs.  Overall consensus is that the nachos are NOT as good for dinner as they are at 3:00am after a night of partying.  Duh.

"House Nachos"  $8.50 + $2.50 for meat:  Fresh tortilla chips topped with melted cheeses, onions, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers and served with guacamole, sour cream and salsa.

Andy Cowabunga (3) - Ok, smaller, not piled high, chips are normal, cheese and chips are sort of cold when came out. RAD: Liquid cheese good. LAME: NO beans. T:C Ratio=4, pretty on with toppings/chips.  A little light on the amount smaller portion.  Atmosphere:  no music, light too bright.  Nice back table, just really bright.

Traci (3) - Flavors are good, but not amazing, too many empty chips, meat goes too fast.  Piled high with lots of meat. RAD: Comes w/sour cream and guac!  Colorful chips.  Kalua pork is salty delicious.  Chips nice and crispy!  Cheese sauce is good... LAME: Piled, but small plates, some empty chips.  Little pico de gallo, needs more and I miss real cheese.  The ground beef and chick are just ok. T:C Ratio=3.5, too many empty chips at the end.  Better for one person so you can divide and conquer with the toppings.  Liked having the big, covered table outside.

Donabed (3) - I thought it was going to be higher stacked. RAD: The mystery cheese sauce it was thebomb.com. LAME: Chips them self kinda sucked. T:C Ratio=3.  Need music and christmas lights in the gazebo.

Mel (4.1, would have given a 4.5 but these nachos taste better at 3am) - Very coloful like the red and orange chips mixed in with the pico and quac. RAD: Kalua pork is derricious. LAME: No salsa!! Not enough pico either, ask for extra pico when you order. T:C Ratio=4.5, plates were mostly empty with a few chips left.  Not a fan of the chicken, too greasy.  But heart Sand Villa and service is usually great and was tonight.

Bryan (3.7) - Server was rad, drinks were good. RAD: Fresh huge jalapenos. LAME: No BEANS or SALSA. T:C Ratio=3, could have been more toppings.

Shananigans (3.75) - Large oval plate, looks big, but it's deceiving. RAD: Fresh, raw jalapenos and a delicious unidentifiable cheesy sauce all over the chips. LAME: No beans. T:C Ratio=3.5, empty chips, but not too many.  Lack of music on the back table was lame.  The lights were too bright, felt like I was on a stage performing.

Adam (3.5) - Fresh jalapenos gives a nice contrast. RAD: Smokey pork goodness. LAME: No ambient music. T:C Ratio=2.75.  Big single table, tiki torches.

Didio (4) - Pretty good. RAD: Jalapeno not pickeled. LAME: No beans. T:C Ratio=4

Steve (2.5) - MEH RAD: Chips arent stale like the sour cream. LAME: Pretty much everything else. T:C Ratio=3.  It's oh so quiet and stoic, thank you for the sharp knives.
