Hard Rock Cafe Nachopalooza with special guest Holy Nachos!

When Tyler left Hawaii, he took nacho blogging with him to Salt Lake City.  He and his entourage of Nacho Friends started a sister blog:  www.holynachos.blogspot.com.  So when he came back to visit us in paradise, we just had to go get some nachos together.  We had heard Hard Rock had some killer nachos so we walked on over there to check them out.  Our waitress Jodi was super friendly and eager to give us suggestions of what to add to the nachos to make them even radder.  Two words:  Grilled Pineapple.  Never before had we experienced such loveliness on nachos.  The little bursts of sweet grilled pineapple made for a most magical flavor combination party on the palette.  Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom.  The nachopalooza is $11.95 for the basic plate that comes with tortilla chips layered with three bean mix, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, pico de gallo, jalapenos, green onions and sour cream.  You can add smoked beef brisket ($6), southwest chicken ($4.50), or fajita beef ($6).  We chose the chicken and also added some guacamole and grilled pineapple.  Super bonus is that we got there 5 minutes before Happy Hour ended so our waitress made sure we got our drinks in right away.

Holy Cheese!

NACHOPALOOZA!!!!

Holy Nachos (4.7) - They look incredible.  So many toppings, although looks like there might be too many chips....we will see.  RAD:  The pina is the shit! Also it came with a flag!  The chips are solid!  Love it. LAME: I wish there were more chips.  Also the price!  $$$.  Topping to Chip Ratio:  4, barely not enough chips.  These were delicious!  The waitress was awesome.  She made the experience even better.

Nacho Cousin (4.8) - Looks delicious!  Looks like enough toppings for the chips.  RAD:  The grilled pineapple for sure!  The guac was amazing!  LAME:  As a lover of sour cream, I have yet to find nachos that have enough sour cream for me.  Topping to Chip Ratio:  Solid 4.5, pleasantly surprised when I ended up with a little more topping than chip.  Service was great.  Atmosphere, it's the Hard Rock, what do you think!  Loved every second of the experience.

Shananigans (4.5) - Piled high with a cute little flag, fresh guac, homemade chips, good topping distribution.  Cannot wait to dig into these guys.  RAD:  The grilled pineapple was so fucking good.  Uber amounts of real cheese all melty and stringy.  The guac had great flavor.  Three kinds of beans!  LAME: Expensive for nachos but expected when you are at the Hard Rock in Waiks. The quality was worth it though.  I'd rather pay $20 for nom nom nachos than $10 for glorified 7-11 nachos anyday.  The sour cream ball was pretty small for the size of the pile.  Topping to Chip Ratio:  4, so many delicious toppings but not quite enough chips to scoop them up with.  Jodi was super helpful and had wonderful suggestions.  When we first came in there was some local live music playing which was rad.  When they stopped, I often got distracted by the music videos playing in the background.  80's bands were rocking the screen.  These are some pretty damn good nachos...the only thing that could make them better is some bacon.

Couldn't even get the whole cheesy stretch of this nacho in the picture.

Post nachos stretches...

Starting to get stuffed...still so much goodness on the plate...time to get the forks and do some clean up.

The aftermath

What fun!  So full!
