Nachos in Paradise: Brandy's Bar and Grill

We bought a deal for $40 worth of food and drinks at Brandy’s Bar and Grill in Aiea next to the Ice Palace because we found out they had nachos on their menu. Little did we know they would be some of the best NACHOS on the ISLAND! We ordered 3 orders, one of each meat thinking there would be plenty of people to help us eat them from the RSVP list. As they arrived to the table and we realized that only the 4 of us were going to make it, we knew we were in trouble. We could have probably shared one order, that’s how epically huge they were…but no…we had 3! We did not want to admit our defeat but very early in we realized we needed to recruit some reinforcements. We asked anyone around us to come and help. We ended up with 5 additional people and still could not finish the nachos. Such a fun night! I can’t wait to go ice skating and fall on my bum and then go next door to Brandy’s and reward myself with a huge plate of nachos. Our bartendress Janice was super rad too. She took amazing care of not just our group but the entire place. You rock lady!

Nacho Libra (5) – HUGE! Colorful with tons of toppings, giant dollops of sour cream. The pork smells amazing!!! RAD: Cheese sauce AND real cheese! Fresh cilantro! Chili AND meat! Tomatoes, olives and salsa. Crispy chips. LAME: There's so many nachos that I can't eat them all! Not everyone that RSVPd showed up - what a waste of nachos! Topping to Chip Ratio: 5! So much nachos! Seriously great variety of toppings and tons of nachos. Come here just for the nachos. Not in town, but felt like a really homey place! Lots of people enjoying it on a Thursday night. Janice was awesome! Everyone here was awesome!

Muchos Nachos (5) – Giant. Looks like a mountain. Multi-colored chips!!!! RAD: Exceeded expections. REAL Mexican sour cream. Garlic in the pork nachos. LAME: We won't be able to eat it all! No guac but really not noticed. Beans are fucking good. Topping to Chip Ratio: 5, lots of toppings, chips in middle still crunchy. I want to eat it all!!! I am in love. Used all the napkins. Dive bar, dingy, pool, mixed crowd. Sweet, fast bartender Janice.

Shananigans (4.75) – Am I in Northern Nevada? This place is every dive bar I grew up in with pool, darts, mullets, construction workers, Otis Redding and huge fucking nachos. RAD: Huge…like the hugest in all the land plate of nachos. Queso and real cheese, olives, multiple meats. LAME: When you take a chip away, you must choose the proper chip or a nacho avalanche will occur. Lack of spice…I like it hot! We didn’t bring enough people to eat the epic portions of nachos. Topping to Chip Ratio: 4.75, chips do get a little soggy at the bottom and you need a fork to finish them. Janice was super awesome bartender taking care of the entire place. We met a great group of local people enjoying pau hana.

Tango Tango (5) – What is happening here? There are so many nachos!!! RAD: Janice, our amazing bartender! Biblical proportions, loaded with every conceivable ingredient, piled 12" off the plate. LAME: Hard to find apparently? My own inadequacy, as a mortal, to fully comprehend that Elysian Plain of chips and cheese. I am humbled. Topping to Chip Ratio: 6 out of 5…yes 6 out of 5. I have underestimated the toppings by less than 500% given the price. After we, and strangers, partook it looked as if we had not yet begun. I am in awe. I've never had nachos like these before. Nachos Nachos Nachos Nachos Nachos Nachos Nachos.

Moana (3) – Good variety of nachos and great complany. RAD: Huge servings. LAME: They were cold by the time I joined the party. Topping to Chip Ratio: 5.

Chief and Nita (4) – Massive mound of amazing kalua pork nachos. RAD: Super tasty, kalua pork, loaded. LAME: Chips on the bottom = no toppings. Topping to Chip Ratio: 3, layer next time.

Lady and the tramp style...it's easier with spaghetti.

Jean (4) – Kalua pork :) RAD: Hot chips, 3 colors from the firer, and a big salsa! LAME: Nothing. Topping to Chip Ratio: 5. Fun atmosphere, you don't want to leave.

OMG! I haven't seen mentos in a candy machine since the Jimboy's Tacos on Virgina Street in Reno.

We recruited them at the door...try as they might...we still had nachos on the plate.

Al (5) – Very impressed with the presentation. RAD: Excellent LAME: Excellent Topping to Chip Ratio: 5. Love this place, always come here, good vibes.

Susan (5) – Colorful. RAD: Kalua Pork LAME: Nothing. Topping to Chip Ratio: Tons of Toppings. BEST! Love this bar. Pool table, sports on TVs, lots of seating.

This lovely couple ordered nachos on their own at the bar but wanted to join the fun so we gave them a score card. Nacho friends! The more the merrier!
