Momma's Famous Nachos - Homemade with LOVE edition

My friend Tyler, an avid nacho connoisseur, was a regular attendee at our nacho nights on Oahu before he moved back to his home state of Utah.  Instead of being sad about missing out on nacho nights in Hawaii, he created a sister blog, Holy Nachos, and began organizing nacho nights in the Salt Lake City area.  His mother, Susan, attended every nacho night with him.  Along with his father, they shared a family love for nachos.  Every Sunday after church, the three of them would eat nachos together made with love by his mom.  They were not fancy, but they were delicious!  She would use nacho cheese Doritos for Tyler and a half mixture of Doritos and standard corn chips for guests.  Her question would always be the same, "Which do you like better?"  Tragically in October of last year, Tyler's mother passed away.  He has not really been able to get back into nacho nights since her passing.  Jody and I were honored when Tyler asked if he could make us Momma's Famous Nachos for dinner while he was staying with us on vacation.  He made them for us with the same love his mother did and as we sat on the lanai devouring every tasty bite, we listened to stories about Susan.  Thank you Tyler for sharing such a special memory with us.  I love you my brother!

In loving memory of Tyler's mom, Susan

Tyler (4.5) - Amazing, obviously because I made it!  RAD: I made them:  Doritos make it BOMB!  LAME: Could have used guac.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.5.  If you are looking for feel good nachos, these are the ones for you.

Miss Stupendous (3) - Looks like a puddle of messy yumminess.  RAD: Doritos nacho cheese chips and how filling they were for being so simple.  I like the half & half idea.  LAME: No guac and veggies.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO:  3, the chips on the outside were a little neglected.  A great easy take on nachos, you can put them together in no time.  I love the story behind the chips!!! Thank you for sharing a bit of Susan with us!!!

Shananigans (4) - Huge plate, everyone gets their own?  Are those chips orange?  How am I going to eat all this?  RAD: Homemade with love, smothered in real cheese. LAME: Lacks spice, luckily I have a plethora of hot sauces.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.2, maybe too much topping?  the chips are not strong enough to hold the heavy toppings.  I loved the flavor of the nacho cheese Doritos.  Olives would have been perfect addition.  Honored that Tyler shared this memory with us.
