Cinnamons at the Ilikai - Breakfast Nachos

BREAKFAST NACHOS?!?  YES!!!!  We were beyond excited to find out that Cinnamons at the Ilikai served breakfast nachos.  So excited we scheduled a special nacho brunch.  The restaurant was packed so there was no way for the 12 of us to sit at the same table without waiting over an hour so we broke up into groups of 4 and went our ways.  It was a ridiculously hot and humid morning so we were blessed when our table got sat inside.  It wasn't super cool, but it was better than the tables on the patio.  The nachos were great!  Nothing too spectacular, but fun to have something different.  I definitely enjoyed the sausage that we added to ours.  Living in Hawaii the past 5 years, I have not eaten a lot of breakfast sausage since Portuguese sausage is usually what is served.  The flavor with the chips, eggs, chiles, and cheese was awesome.  A little sweet with the salty.  I hear Cinnamons also has nachos on their lunch menu so we will have to explore that as well.  As an extra bonus, check out the end of the blog for Grannysaurus' review of the loco moco.

Breakfast Nachos - $10.95 - Corn tortilla chips topped with scrambled eggs, diced green chiles, tomatoes, olives, green onions, and cheddar cheese.  Served with sour cream and salsa.  Add bacon, link or Portuguese sausage for $2

Tequila Cat: (3) It looks tasty but I was expecting tot-chos.  RAD : Bacon.  Also, live music was fantastic.  They sang my request to us, "My little grass shack."  LAME : Where da tater tots???  Topping to Chip Ratio : 4, decent toppings.  Soggy chips due to eggs. Wish chips were tots.  Lovely cheerful service, thanks Carolyn!  Delicious guava chiffon pancakes.

Miss Stupendous: (5, hos would you go wrong with breakfast + nachos) Toppings look amazing, looks like the eggs will hold well to the chips.  RAD : The link sausage tastes amazing. We all love some Jimmy Deans.  They covered all the traditional nacho toppings.  LAME : Not enough chips.  Topping to Chip Ratio : 4, once again not enough chips.  Enjoyed the company at my table.  Corn beef hash or country gravy would be great addition to these nachos.

Tango Papa Tango: (2.75, bland flavor and fast became soggy) Pretty loaded nachos.  Good layering.  Okay looking.  RAD : The kalua pig eggs benedict we ordered too and delicious lilikoi mimosas.  LAME : Adding bacon for $2 is not worth it.  Eggs made chips soggy.    Topping to Chip Ratio : 4, generous egg, tomato, olives, canned diced green chiles, orange cheese, salsa and sour cream on the side.  Order eggs benedict instead.

Denton: (3) Nice distribution of toppings.  Lots of eggs, could use more bacon though ($2 extra)  RAD : Lots of toppings!  LAME : The eggs make it soggy quickly.  Topping to Chip Ratio : 5, great amount of toppings.  I am left wanting salt so good thing we had an amazing kalua pig benedict.  Service was excellent, atmosphere was nice, but a tad hot.  They should offer kalua pig on the nachos for salt.

Danielle: (2) Looks breakfasty!  Never seen eggs on a nacho until now!  RAD : Good topping to chip ratio.  LAME : Cold.  Topping to Chip Ratio : 4. We got serenaded by ukuleles.

Shananigans: (4) Large portion, fresh melted cheese, sour cream and salsa on the side.   RAD : Sausage is delish!  I love olives and the green chiles were a unique and tasty flavor.    LAME : Not enough sausage.  Seriously I forgot how tasty that meat is.   Topping to Chip Ratio : 4.25, too many toppings, more toppings than chips.  Alana was an awesome server.  Country gravy would have been so good on these!  The eggs went surprisingly perfect with the chips.

Guacamole Haole: (3) A colcano erupted of eggs, cheese, tomatoes.  RAD : Being serenaded, I wanted to hula but all I know is the hula hoop.  LAME : The wait!  Topping to Chip Ratio : Ratio is disproportionate (cheese heavy).  Cinnamons is a magical oasis above the harbor.

N8: (This experience was a 2, could have been a 4) Nice and colorful  RAD : Island Style.  LAME : Where to start.  Got the food and drinks pretty late so the outside of the nachos were cold.  As a result the cheese was meh as well as the eggs.  Topping to Chip Ratio : 4, good.

Roberto: (4, room for improvement) Yummy looking.   RAD : Breakfast nachos?!? Amazing!  LAME : Olives :(  Topping to Chip Ratio : Extra salsa to cover the naked chips.  Carolyn is an excellent server.

Cinnamon Macho Nacho: (4) Well plated, every bit was covered in toppings and the plate was full of chips.   RAD : Eggs and green chiles!  Yum!  LAME : Every thing cooled quickly and it became one solid chip mountain.  Topping to Chip Ratio : Ratios were perfect.  The cheese was good but could have had a mix of cheeses.  Variety of tops were perfect and all breakfast themed.  Indoor seating was nice.

Nacho Libra: (3.5) Good size for two people.  Looks like traditional nachos.  Excited for the breakfast twist!  RAD : Lots of real cheese!  Chips are totally crunchy chips that actually go really well with the scrambled eggs.  LAME : Non melted cheese in the center.  Personally not a fan of the green chiles.  Need a pop of something…some heat.  Topping to Chip Ratio : 5, tons of toppings!  Definitely need to add a meat or two.  Needs a little more of a kick.  Maybe a pepper jack cheese.  But I love the excuse to eat nachos for breakfast!  Great service!  The cinnamon roll is super tasty, it comes with house made glaze…mmmmmmm….

Nacho Granny: (4) Ono!  RAD : Egg yolks on rice!  LAME : Gravy is a little broken.  Topping to Chip Ratio : Loco Moco comes with one egg.  So I had to add one to make it a 5.  Great service.  Lovely music.
