The Mill Bar & Grill

I bought one of those "What a Deal Wednesdays" for The Mill Bar & Grill and decided to treat friends to $50 worth of nachos.  For the majority of the nacho blogs we have been doing over the last 3 years, we have stayed in town.  It was sure nice to get out of Waikiki for a change.  The Mill Bar & Grill is in a shopping center in Mililani.  The parking can be rough if there are a lot of people at the other businesses.  Because of a few last minute cancellations, we had a smaller, more intimate group.  These kind of nights are my favorite because I can actually hold normal conversations with my friends instead of trying to talk to 20+ people at the same time.  For the most part the group was pleased with the nachos, even though they were slightly reminiscent of ball park/7-11 nachos because of the cheese sauce.  My favorite part was the pipikaula.  I have never seen this on nachos before.  And boy was it delicious!  Usually people complain that the sour cream portions are too small, but this was definitely not the case for these nachos.  Huge balls of the deliciousness were piled on top of each plate, so much so that when we finished, sour cream was the only thing left on the plate.  The rest of the menu looks super ono so I would definitely like to come back and try some more dishes, preferably when they have a band playing on the stage.  Overall it was a marvelous evening with super rad people and pretty pleasing nachos.  Life is good!

Loaded Nachos (beef, chicken, pipikaula, plain) - $9.95

Nacho chip down!

Matt (4.2) - PRESENTATION: Beautiful, colorful, diverse, loaded.  RAD: The taste was rad and I liked the outdoor smoking area where beer is allowed.  LAME: Toppings piled on top with majority of the nachos underneath not having toppings.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5, fucking awesome toppings.

Lizzy (3.5) - PRESENTATION: Colorful, cheesy, wish the plates were prettier.  RAD: The sour cream looks like little ice cream scoops.  LAME: Some chips were pretty dry, I need ALL the cheese for my nachos.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3.5, some of the plates were better than others.  Some had a lot left over, we had to order extra chips. I wish the pipikaula nachos had more meat on them.  A pretty fun place, sort of outdoors and a chill environment to hangout with a group of friends.

Tequila Cat (Solid 4) - PRESENTATION: Large, standard, globby cheese nachos.  We ordered 3 different: chicken, beef, pipikaula.  RAD: The fresh salsa was delish.  LAME: There were no paper towels in the ladies room.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3, Jalapenos were delicious, more toppings than chips.  Nice open garage doors with draft flowing through.  Divey.  I liked it.

Whammy (2) - PRESENTATION: Toppings spread out, picky eater can avoid while normal people can get everything they want.  Not a fancy plate, expected for bar seating.  RAD: Loads of sour cream!  LAME: Chips were a bit stale and lacked any taste by themselves.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3, balanced.  I personally would have liked more jalapenos.  There wasn't much meat.  Probably wouldn't go out of my way for it.  For bar food, it would be interesting to try while drunk and see how it changes my opinion.  I like the open seating.  Air flow through is decent but there doesn't seem to be any air conditioning.  ON a night with no wind, this could get uncomfortable quickly.

Roberto (2) - PRESENTATION: Classic nacho appearance, tons of sour cream.  RAD: Extra salsa.  Pipikaula.  Yum!  LAME: Some stale chips.  Olives, ewww!  Not layered well.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 2, not all nachos are consistent.  Way too much sour cream.  Pretty bland with the exception of the pipikaula.  I like the atmosphere but parking is difficult.

Shananigans (3.75) - PRESENTATION: Good portion, 7-11 cheese and huge globs of sour cream.  RAD: Lots of olives...lots of sour cream, maybe too much.  LAME: Super messy.  We needed to ask for plates.  The cheese was super ghetto 7-11 style and there was so much of it there were not enough chips to eat it all.  Too much sour cream, we ended up with globs of it TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3.75.  The chicken is pretty good, the pipikaula was the best.  The ground beef is just basic ground beef.  Too many toppings for the chips, we had to ask for more.  Super messy but super good.  We also ordered some bacon wrapped mushrooms which were AMAZING.  Love the open air of the bar.  it was a little quiet when the jukebox was not playing.  There should be radio or something in the background when no songs are up.  Really great group of people this night, awesome dynamic.

Lady and the Tramp style

That's basically a plate of sour cream
