3rd Annual Nacho Cook Off

The 3rd Annual Nacho Cook Off brought us some of the best nachos to date.  We had six teams of two compete along with a plethora of judges critiquing the creations.  Once again, Amy was kind enough to host at her delicious cheesecake and more store, Cake Envy.  We danced, we ate, we drank, we laughed, we loved.  I say this every year, but seriously it's true.  The nachos that this group of friends comes up with every year is ridiculous.  So creative, so delicious, and better than anything you can find in a restaurant.

2016 Teams:

Amy and ? : Italian Nachos
Italian ground sausage, mozzarella, garlic alfredo, parmesan, banana peppers, tomatoes, and basil

Katrina and Nicole: Nachos Yucatan Cochinita Pibil
Sour Orange marinated slow roasted pulled pork in banana leaves, Fire roasted jalapeño, lime & avocado sauce, Cumin spiced black bean purée, Crema and cojita, Sour Orange pickled red onions, and Homemade plantain chips

Tom and Shannon: Nachos Y'all
Homemade mac n' cheese, creamy cheddar queso, slow-cooked BBQ ribs, pineapple jalapeno slaw, fresh sliced jalapenos, and a sour cream drizzle

Chris and Traci: Strawberry Supreme
Six Italian cheeses, shredded chicken in a strawberry balsamic sauce, bacon crumbles, caramelized onion, diced strawberries, strawberry-balsamic drizzle, and cilantro
Uma and David: Kimchi Mojo
Nacho chips: dumpling wrappers, ground pork, fish sauce, ginger sesame oil.  Drizzling: sour cream, Korean gochujang sauce, rice vinegar, honey.  Salsa: kimchee, tomatoes, shallots, cilantro.  Courtesy of ladynpups.com.

Eric and Katie:  Onolicious
No details given...

After hours of preparing and eating nachos, the results were tallied and Nachos Y'all declared the winner. It was a very close race, as it is every year. And really, are they any losers at a Nacho Cook Off?  We all got to eat super delicious nachos with our friends for hours.  Then there was a nacho conga.  Parties don't get much better than that.

Nachos Ya'll - 4.69
Yucatan Cochinita Pibil - 4.54
Kimchi Mojo - 4.43
Onolicious - 3.96
