Sunday Funday Nachos at Cheeseburger Beachwalk

It was Sunday in Waikiki and all we wanted to do was find a bar we could sit in to watch the playoffs.  We tried a few places with no luck, standing room only!  Finally we went upstairs to Cheeseburger Beachwalk and got front row seats at a table in front of 4 large televisions.  YAY!  We really wanted the Patriots to lose. We were disappointed when late in the 4th quarter, cry baby Brady came from behind to lead them to victory.  UGH, another Superbowl to watch with annoying Patriots fans. For the Vikings vs Eagles game, we were both rooting for Minnesota.  It was pretty clear early on that Philly was going to dominate the game.  It wasn't even fun to watch.

Both our bartenders we had were awesome.  Todd made sure our beers stayed full and wasn't bothered when it took us an hour to figure out what we wanted to snack on. I was beyond stoked when my handsome date wanted to get nachos AND I talked him into writing a review with me. When I told Todd about the Nacho Blog, he did give me the disclaimer that they are a cheeseburger restaurant and not a nacho restaurant.  No worries, my friend, we love all nachos good and bad.  Because nachos.  They came out piled high with a lot of toppings and a cute little umbrella.  I didn't realize until it was too late that neither one of us liked the pico de gallo so we were stuck with little tomatoes and onions ruining a whole section of the nachos for us. The chips were thin so they couldn't stand up to the weight of all those glorious toppings. With the liquid queso and other wet toppings like pico, guac, and sour cream, they were soon soggy. You needed to use a fork to eat them with or get super super messy.  (Sidenote: The best thing about wearing sequins when you eat is that anything you spill on them just wipes right off.) I wouldn't say they were the best nachos I have ever had but they were far from the worst.  The queso was pretty good and there was not a lack of toppings.  The best part of the experience was laughing and sharing one of my favorite hobbies with one of my favorite people.

Shananigans (3.5) - PRESENTATION: Piled high with lots of toppings, is that lettuce??? Could be sacrilege, could be delicious. RADQueso sauce is flavorful and covering all the chips. Dusty. LAME: Chips get soggy fast, forgot to ask for no pico. I hate tomatoes. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.5, Almost too many toppings. Basic nachos for a cheeseburger place. Bartender is rad. We had front row seats for the football game when everywhere else was packed!!! Love spending the day with my favorite guy.

Dusty (3) - PRESENTATION:  Fair, chips and toppings were lacking color but the cocktail umbrella spruced things up. RAD: Sour cream jalapeño combo.  LAME: Onion! In the pico and guac . TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4, Lots of toppings but had to use a fork. Overall good, tortilla chips were average, cheese was good but could have been better
