Whenever I tell people I write a Nacho Blog, they don't take me seriously. When I hand them my card and they know I am for real, the first thing they ask me is, "Who has the best nachos on the island?" I haven't had a solid answer for some years now as all of my favorite nacho places have closed down or stopped serving them. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of places with really good nachos, but to label something as "the best" takes some serious nacho skills. That was, until we had nacho night at The Reef Bar & Market Grill. Their steak and shrimp nachos are by far, the best nachos I have ever had and I have had A LOT of nachos over the years. Where is The Reef Bar & Market Grill you ask? It's in the Outrigger in the location of the old Shorebirds. Same epic view with a new and improved menu.
Our nacho night at The Reef Bar was the most epic night of nachos any of us have experienced. It all started with a phone call from my good friend Art. We had worked together at the Cantina and he remembered that I wrote the nacho blog. He called me up and said management was interested in having us come in and try their nachos and do a write up about it. The best part, the nachos were to be comped! Comped nachos?!?! We were feeling pretty cool. All these years of hard work, eating nachos and writing blogs had finally paid off. I scheduled the nacho night for the Monday after my birthday so we could continue the weekend celebrations. As it got closer to the event, I spoke with Art and he told me that there was not just going to be the regular nachos that are on the menu. When the chefs heard about our group coming in, they created 4 other special nachos just for us, including dessert nachos to celebrate my birthday. We were beyond excited. Since they were being comped, we were not sure what to expect. Would they only bring out a couple dishes for our group to sample? Whatever was going to happen, we were going to be grateful.
I arrived early to meet the managers and make sure everything was good to go. They had 4 tables set up for us with CUSTOM printed menus that even wished me a happy birthday. Too cool! We were like VIP nacho friends. Then we found out that they were bringing out the nachos like a 5 course gourmet nacho meal extravaganza. We sat patiently, sipping on drinks while the chefs prepared our first course. Each table got their own platter to share and we knew we were done for from the first bite. What is this nacho sorcery? They were beautiful and they tasted even better than they looked. They could have stopped right there and we would have been beyond stoked. But no, they proceeded to bring out 4 more courses, one at a time, of nacho deliciousness. We ate nachos for 2 hours and loved every single second of it. When it came time for the dessert nachos, they even put a candle in the ice cream and everyone sang to me.
For the few of you that this was your first nacho night, I apologize. There will never be another nacho night that lives up to this. Please don't let this night taint your future happiness at sub par nacho nights. - Flacco: Other than the luau nachos, all of the courses were amazing! Whoever came up with this menu should get a high five! This is my favorite nacho night!
- Collin: Could have been more sauce (the white stuff) otherwise it was awesome. The only nachos that weren’t so good were the luau nachos. All the other nachos were quite the religious experience, just sayin!
- Dusty: Awesome venue, ocean view, great service!
- Tango Tango: We’re better than Gods, we’re nacho-powered god slaughterers. Anyone who didn’t come to this nacho night will never experience true happiness.
- Mike: There is a smell around the place. Did not notice it after the nachos came out.
- Piggy: Service is magnificent! View is wonderful! Thank you Shannon for this event! Ahhhh…I have to go catch an airplane and will miss dessert!
- Zach: Great service, food and company!

OMG there’s a candle in it! How sweet is that! I’ve never had birthday

Best dessert nachos I have ever had and that’s saying something. One
other I tried had cheesecake balls and the other were smores nachos that were
served lit on fire.
