Red Dog Saloon MAINLAND EDITION: Virginia City, NV

Every time I go home and visit Nevada, we try to have a Virginia City Sunday Funday. There's something magical about day drinking in the old saloons and walking on the old wooden sidewalks from way back when. We met at the Bucket of Blood and after some very yummy bloody marys and blueberry mojitos, we headed over to the Red Dog for some food. We walked in and the place was packed. Duh! What were we thinking on a busy summer weekend? There was no way our party of 20 was going to fit inside but luckily they had a huge back area with plenty of tables for us to spread out on. We ordered some pitchers of beer, a couple of pizzas, and the Irish Nachos, of course!

The Irish Nachos were spiral garlic french fries smothered in cheese and bacon. How could you go wrong?  We were all starving so we squashed the first two orders in a matter of minutes.  Just your basic bar food but perfect for our empty bellies to soak up the beer. Plus, bacon.

The Red Dog Saloon is one of my favorite little Virginia City bars. If you are ever in the Carson City/Reno/Tahoe area, take the short drive to check it out along with the rest of Virginia City. I highly recommend getting an Old Timey Photo taken. Totally worth every penny for that fabulous memory.
