I had the amazing honor of spending an entire day bopping around Carson City with one of my oldest and dearest friends, Sean. We first met when I was in junior high at a Murder Mystery party, but he doesn't even remember that. We became good friends when I was in high school during the golden era of Java Joe's. I had my own apartment when I was a senior and we used to have some pretty awesome parties. Sometimes when we were bored, we would walk around downtown admiring the statues and the buildings. We decided to reminisce by heading downtown to see how much had changed since we were kids. The trees were bigger, but that was about it. We went inside the Capitol and the Legislature playing like silly tourists. At one point the guards came out and we thought we were in trouble, but they just wanted to give us a tour inside the chambers LOL.
After the Capitol, we wandered through downtown and all the way to Adele's. By this time we were thirsty and a little hungry so it was the perfect place to stop and recharge. I especially wanted to go since I heard Charlie was retiring soon and the restaurant would be up for sale. It's the end of an era for sure. I was also super in luck that my most favorite Steve was coming in at 4:30! Sean and I ordered a snack and enjoyed the coolness of the restaurant while we caught up on our lives. We had plans to meet friends about 5pm at the Tap Shack down the street and were getting ready to go when Steve popped over and asked us if we were hungry and wanted any nachos. Did we just have a snack? Yes. Is there always room for nachos? YES, definitely when they are made special for you! Was Sean trying to live a vegan lifestyle? Exceptions can be made for nachos! Were we a little late to meet our friends? A wee bit, but when we told them we were late because of nachos at Adele's, they all understood.
When we finally caught up with our friends on the Tap Shack patio, it was lovely. There was shade and music and so many people I have loved for so many years. The coolest part was when I went to the bar to order a drink and my Christmas card from like 5 years ago was still on the bulletin board behind the register. I love you Carson City, Nevada! And I especially love you Sean!
Almost all the pics are courtesy of the amazing Sean Franzen who has been a most excellent photographer since we were teenagers. Check out his pics on his IG @nevadafranzen

| Super yummy nachos from Cafe at Adele's |
Sean and Shananigans (4.92) - PRESENTATION: Nice big plate of fresh looking nachos, huge dollops of sour cream and guacamole. RAD: Chips are fresh and tasty, veggie spread is more than your average simple veggies, complex and not boring. LAME: Chips get soggy (cause they are bathed in so much awesomeness). TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5, every chip covered, no skimping here. This was a whole meal. You don't even notice there is no meat. Vegetarian delight.
