When Bruno Mars announced he was coming back to Hawaii, we were so excited and determined to get tickets this time. We sat at home with our phones and computers patiently waiting for our turn. It took us 45 minutes before we were able to choose some seats and we could not even find two seats next to each other. We did find two seats in the same column and just went with that. They were on the aisle and one of us would have to stand behind the other, no problem.
The night of the show, we opted for the shuttle service from Waikiki so we wouldn't have to deal with the bus or surging car services. The shuttle was awesome. Picked us up and dropped us off promptly. Everyone on it was in a super good mood. The stadium was sold out so it was extremely packed with people everywhere. The lines for everything were way too long. We waited in one to get a Mai Tai made from Bruno Mars rum, because duh we were at the Bruno Mars show. The best part was the little flag in the drink with Bruno's face on it.
We noticed the snack bar had nachos, so waited in yet another line to get some really crappy nachos. These might be the worst stadium nachos in the history of nachos. The chips were stale and the cheese was pretty lacking. The lackluster chili had no flavor and was just piled in the middle. They were also on a Styrofoam plate. We can do better than this Hawaii. They could have been served in a paper nacho boat. Even 7-11 nachos are better than these. But at least they only cost $6.50!!! Oh well, sometimes it's not about the quality of the nachos but the experience while eating the nachos.
The nachos may have barely scored a 1 overall, but the evening scored a 10! The show was crazy good. It opened up with a picture montage of Bruno growing up in Hawaii to the song Island Style by John Cruz. Then the screen went black and it said, "Hawaii I'm home." The crowd went nuts! We were way up in the nosebleed section and the stadium was physically shaking from everyone dancing. We were torn between dancing and freaking out that it was going to collapse. At least we were on top so if it fell we wouldn't be crushed. Bruno puts on an awesome show and the fireworks pushed it over the top.
