Guns N Roses N Nachos

When I was a teenager, I LOVED Guns N' Roses. My mother hated the band so I was only able to secretly listen to my cassettes on my walkman. Our backyard growing up was humongous. There was a full volleyball court area, two gardens, and a buttload of trees. The yard was a beast to mow. So much so that the local kids we hired would quit after a few months. As punishment, she would make me mow it when I misbehaved. I would always put on my walkman and rebelliously blast my GNR while suffering through that lawn. In my early 20s, I started singing GNR at karaoke places and soon developed a pretty good Axl dance to go with my crappy vocals. Once people saw me do it, it became a thing to beg me to bust it out at parties or when I was waitressing at Joe's Crab Shacks during my cross-country road trip. Lucky for me, that fad didn't follow me to Hawaii.

When I heard GNR was coming to Aloha Stadium, I was so stoked. I found my old shirt, faded and with holes cut out down the side. Lucky for me, I bought it baggy back in the day so it still fit me (although there was a little bit of tummy squishing through the side slits depending on how I sat). The show was far from sold out so we looked online for available seats to purchase to move closer from where we originally had tickets. We could have gotten even closer if we wanted, but it was raining a little and we enjoyed staying dry. The weather was the perfect amount of chill that everyone could rock flannels in Hawaii without dying of heat. I loved seeing all the flannels everywhere. I miss flannels!

The show was amazing. You could definitely see the band was aging. Axl was older and Slash just a little pudgier. What sorcery was going on with Duff? He had hardly aged and was looking good!  Axl was, of course, a total diva and changed his hat, shirt, and waist tied flannel like 20 times throughout the show. Slash slayed every song. When we saw the piano be brought on the stage we just knew that November Rain was going to be played. The show lasted for hours and then they came out for a 5 song encore. It was epic! The last song, Paradise City, had a bunch of fireworks with it. They played every single song I wanted to hear and then some. I was definitely impressed.

Oh yeah, we also ate some nachos. Pretty sure these were the same crappy nachos we had at Bruno, but without the chili. At least this time there was a bunch of cheese on them. No matter how crappy, we still finished the plate. Crappy nachos are better than no nachos any day.

Ran into my favorite rocking buddy Nate in the parking lot.

Friends!

Slash just being cool.

Ready to rock

This guy behind us was so weird. He said he ran into Slash (the singer) in the men's room and then showed us a pic of someone in their 20s. Yeah okay dude. You are obviously a big fan. LOL. He was nice enough but kept telling us how famous he was. We don't care about that kind of stuff. Just be a nice human. :)
