The Lanai at Mamala Bay

Sometimes even when I am not in the mood for nachos, I find myself at a location I might not be back at for a while, or ever, and then must eat the nachos for the sake of the Nacho Blog. You think it's all just fun and games with our silly nacho adventures but sometimes it's hard work to eat all these nachos. I found myself at lunch at The Lanai at Mamala Bay and thought there's no way I will be back here anytime soon because you need to be with someone in the military just to get on base to get to the restaurant. So when I saw nachos on the menu, of course I had to order them.

The restaurant is at a gorgeous location with your not-so-standard views of the ocean and Diamond Head you are used to when living in the city. The water is so blue and so pretty there. Most of the restaurant is open air and inviting. The nachos were okay, but not outstanding. I liked that they had some fresh peppers on top, but other than that they were pretty bland.

Loaded Nachos ($13.50) - Corn tortilla chips, jalapeno-queso, lime crema fresh & jalapenos

Shannon (3.5) – PRESENTATION: Big bowl but looking pretty sparse with the toppings.  RAD: Seasoning on chips adds a little kick, can't beat this view!  LAME: Layering sucks so all the chips on the bottom are broken and naked. Wish there was more cheese, even though this queso is just a little bit more than 7-11 queso.   TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.5, Chips on bottom empty. Even though these weren't the greatest, I have definitely had worse and I would probably eat them again.
