When the Baird family comes to visit Oahu, I am usually lucky enough to get to spend an afternoon with them in Waikiki. They messaged me that they wanted to meet up for nachos. Ummm, yes...definitely. The question is, which nachos???? Since they are here on vacation, I settled on Reef Bar & Market Grille. The location is perfect after a stroll through Waikiki and the view can't be beat. The nachos are super delicious with grilled steak and huge shrimpies. They aren't cheap, but you are paying for the view and if you share them with someone, it's not so bad. They even surprised me with two new friends that were traveling with them that were self-proclaimed nacho lovers.
We walked along the beach in Waikiki and I gave them a mini tour of this and that. It was super hot out and we welcomed the break from the sun when we arrived at the restaurant. We ordered a couple of nachos and some delicious spicy mango cucumber margaritas and spent most of the conversation talking about how each of us loved nachos. I loved the stories of how they would make nachos as a family and even at Burning Man. I fell instantly in love with Leah and Carly and was super bummed they were all staying so far away from me. I wanted more time with them! By the end of the lunch, we planned a two-day nacho adventure for the following weekend, along with a circle island tour. When I told them I had a bunch of punny nacho shirts to wear and change at each stop on the adventure, they were super stoked. I had been waiting for an adventure day like this for years!
Sadly the kiddos were not feeling too well so we had to cut our afternoon short. I can't wait for our next adventure together whether here in Hawaii or in the Nevada Desert! Thank you Baird family for always making some time in your Hawaii vacation to spend with me. Love you!
