King's Pub Nachos

A nice size group of us were excited and ready to try the nachos at Yogur Story.  I called to make reservations and they were closed for that night ONLY for a special training.  We did not let this detour our nacho eating mission.  We met at King's Pub instead.  They have pretty good happy hour prices for drinks and since it wasn't very busy, we were able to move some tables together to accommodate the group.  Some of our non-nacho friends met us too.  We ordered 2 orders at first but quickly realized this was not enough.  Thad and Carey joined us for their first ever nacho night too!  Our group is slowly expanding...as is the TO-DO nacho list which has so many places listed on it, it will take us almost 2 years at our current rate.  That's a lot of nachos!

Chili Nachos:  2 scoops of our home made beefy chili with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, olives, onions, cheese, jalapenos and anything else you want on it!  $12.00  (we ordered them regular and forgot to ask about the last part...wondering if that means you can put any of the pizza toppings on?  Curious...could open up entirely too many nacho possibilities...)

Cheree (3) - Medium pizza pan loaded with nachos.  Dive bar with cheap drinks and old hotel atmosphere RAD: Chili and jalapenos and quac and sour cream is good madness. LAME: Soggy chips soon after arriving to table. T:C Ratio=3.

Thad (3.75) - Looks yummy - Chips are toasted! RAD: Chips are Krispy!!  Flaky and plenty of salsa. LAME: Ran out of the good stuff before the chips are over :(. T:C Ratio=2, plenty of salsa left but they break down too easy not allowing you to finish the topping.  I like this place and was called handsome by someone.  Jukebox is a bit loud, but they let us do what we want.

Nacho bloggers...hard at work!

Traci (2) - Piled high, lots o chili RAD: Guac is good!. LAME: Puddles of cheese NOT on chips.  More chips w/cheese please!  Chili nothing fancy, not much spice. T:C Ratio=4, good amount of toppings, except for the cheese.

Kelly (2) - Layers were very well separated to showcase the variety. RAD: The beef chili was delightful. LAME: Kind of bland, need more spice in the salsa and guac. T:C Ratio=3, nacho chips were soggy with too many toppings.  I wonder what other toppings we could order?  Happy Tax Day.

Shannon (3.5) - One with chili looks way bigger, generous portions of sour cream and guac. RAD: Baked nachos are the best and the guac tasted yummy. LAME: Cheese not melted in the middle and chips get super soggy so very messy at the end. T:C Ratio=4, more toppings than chips at the end, needed a fork.  The forks said ALOHA on them, I love that!  The music was too loud.  Our cook/waiter was super nice and helpful.  Offered to bring the chili on the side for the vegetarian order without us asking.

Pounding those drinks back...watch out!

Carey (3) -  Room for better.  Came out on a pizza tin. RAD: Jalapenos and sour cream. LAME: LOL, chili on the side for vegetarian nachos. T:C Ratio=4, worked out well.  Seedy bar, loud music, service ok.

Steve (2) - Burnt chips, small portion for price.  Onions, olives, jalapenos okay but too few chips and cheese is the heart of nachos. RAD: Nice smokey salsa, soundgarden, quick service, good amount of sour cream, good sound system. LAME: Where's my cheese bitch?  No beans, edges just a little too burnt, no quantity. T:C Ratio=1, lack of cheese is very hard to forgive.  "Love in an Elevator" and "Blackhole Sun" were very nice to eat nachos to.

Nate (3) - Nice stack, needs better distribution. RAD: Baked is good. LAME: Chili on the side is better and barley any cheese. T:C Ratio=3, excluding the cheese.  Fan of the bar/venue, nacho-wise…so so

The aftermath

Traci learning to be a pool shark!

Mahalo nacho friends!  :)
