The Corner Cafe and Bar- Traci's Birthday Party

The gang got together for a special celebration of Traci's birthday at the Corner Cafe and Bar on the corner of King and Smith Street in Chinatown.  None of us had been so we did not know what to expect.  All we knew was that there were spicy ahi nachos on the menu and we were intrigued.  The bar is lovely inside filled with wooden tables and chairs.  It is a great space for groups and looks like it would be a fun place to watch the game on the weekend.  The menu is eclectic ranging from sushi rolls to cheeseburger sliders and quesadillas.  The owner and our server, Koko, was friendly, helpful and so attentive. Even as the gang trickled in one at a time, he kept our drinks full and food at our table.  The spicy ahi nachos were amazing.  Served on wonton chips and so damn pretty to look at.  They are a little too big to shove completely in mouth and you can not really take a bite out of them.  Using chopsticks, also not a good idea, as was learned by the dude at the end of the table when his nacho went kaplut on the floor.  Sad panda.  We also had a blue cheese slider which when I asked the table how they felt about them, they answered in unison, "Awesome!"  Definitely a place I want to check out again and sample some more delicious dishes from the menu.  Open Monday thru Friday for lunch and dinner, Saturdays for dinner only and Sundays for football, check them out if you are in the neighborhood.  You will not be disappointed.

Rey Misterio (4) - Didn't look like "nachos," Nice presentation! RAD: Fanciest. Nachos. Ever. LAME: Idk…baby spinach made it "healthy" and $10 for 6 nachos is a little depressing.  Still hungry. T:C Ratio=4, Spicy tuna (just the right amount of spice), avocado and sauce.  Great service, restaurant was pretty dead though.

Zulma (5) - Fabulous presentation, small but beautiful and appetizing. RAD: Not too spicy.  Very mild, not too Mexican, not too Japanese, served by the owner, wow just right. LAME: Nothing lame!  Great space and food. T:C Ratio=4.  Everything was fabulous.  I was scared to come in but it is the nicest new bar and great owner (Koko) too.

Donato (3, as nachos, very interesting sushi) - Beautiful presentation, appeared appetizing, creative, atypical nachos. RAD: Presentation, organic greens in garnish. LAME: Difficult to eat. T:C Ratio=Not a great topping to chip ratio.  Tuna, avocado fish.  Happy Birthday Traci!

Tom (5) - Looks like sushi on nacho chips. RAD: Very spicy and awesome!  Accidental free drink!!!! LAME: I could eat like twenty orders of these. T:C Ratio=5, perfect.

Shananigans (4, flavor explosions in da mouth) - Absolutely fucking beautiful! RAD: Where to begin?  Avocado, habanero mansago, love the greens under the chips. LAME: Can not fit the whole thing in my mouth all at once. T:C Ratio=4.  Koko was awesome, bar is cute with lots of tables and great for groups.  So we had a bluecheese slider as well.  Probably one of the best I have ever had.  Covered in blue cheese and dripping in juices.  Even the bun was delicious.  Melty messy put it in my face awesome with an onion ring on top.  And the sriacha sour cream that comes with the quesadilla = awesome.

Nacho Libra (5, delicious, delicious, delicious!) - Very pretty & colorful! RAD: Spicy!  Great texture with chips, ahi and avocado. LAME: Small portion…I want more! T:C Ratio=4.5, perfect amount of topping for the chip.  Not a lot of variety, but the sauces, etc.  make it perfect!  Koko is fucking awesome.  Good music.  Good stories.  Blue cheese sliders = GET IN MY FACE!

Steve (3.5) - Freaking Art!  Koko rules!  Nice color combination. RAD: Burst of flavor combination flavors. LAME: Chips are a little stale. T:C Ratio=4, maybe just a few more ingredients.

Heather (4.5) - I want to eat that! RAD: "The chips are made fresh daily" and I like the spiciness and the zing of the greens. LAME: Hard to eat….but worth it! T:C Ratio=4, nice amount of tioppings, but piled high.  We owned the joint!  Good Service.

Leschon (5) - Awesome presentation. RAD: Chips are crispy. LAME: A little too spicy for me. T:C Ratio=4, great toppings!  Atmosphere and service was rockin!

Pang Pang (5) - Sophisticated, clean. RAD: Spicy asago/spicy aioli. LAME: MORE PLEASE. T:C Ratio=5.  Relaxed, very friendly, suprisingly "gourmet" bistro plates.

Pablo (4) - Very elegant. RAD: Spicy + avocado. LAME: Needs salsa. T:C Ratio=4, Avocado, spicy tuna, masago.  Good service and quick!

Grannysaurus (didn't eat nachos so rated the blue cheese sliders) (5) - Double trouble…two burgers!  Almost makes me wanna share….almost! RAD: Very simple burger.  I like simple food. LAME: There were only two…just kidding.  I loved it! T:C Ratio=No toppings, no chips, just yummy!  Nice place.  Nice server.  Even lets us play photo studio.
