Cha Cha Cha's Waikiki Farewell Nacho Night

Sadly one of our favorite places in Waiks closed down in October.  But before they did, we got the Nacho Friends together for a night of scarfing nachos and sipping margaritas.  And it happened to coincide with the one year anniversary of the Nacho Blog which began in October of 2012 at Cha Cha Cha's Waikiki when Kate, David, Julia and Shannon joked about writing a nacho blog.  There was an awesome turnout despite the horrible parking that many had to deal with.  Our server got pretty slammed and because our group slowly trickled in way past meeting time, drinks were slow coming.  Some of us solved this dilemma by ordering margaritas by the pitcher.  The nachos were delicious, as always, especially the habanero pineapple salsa.  We are all very sad that the restaurant is closing, and just as I got on the Tequila Wall of Fame.  Best of luck to the owner to find a new location!

Bunga (4.5, the only reason these are not a 5 is the topping ratio and the plate of chips at the end.) - Looks like a giant trash heap…if trash was cuinary goodness!  And isn't there a game on?  Judge Judy on the TVs is a faux pas! RAD: Jamaican Jerk chicken…nuff said (moist). LAME: Too many cold chips.  Small order of nachos atop a bed of cold chips. T:C Ratio=2.5, lots of toppings on top but lots of dry chips under the covers…(you never want to be disappointed when you look under the covers!)  Service is a little chaotic.  If you have a car, preapare to spend 45 minutes looking for parking.  Our server was very busy, but really nice and sweet.

Ashley (3) - Very large & looking tasty with lots of toppings (it appeared…not really how it turned out) RAD: Fresh jalapenos. LAME: Nachos here…still waiting for a drink. T:C Ratio=2.  Jalapeno Margarita is ONO.

Mike True (3) - Huge & Plentiful RAD: The chips taste authentic and warm. LAME: Not enough plates.  It felt like Mad Max. T:C Ratio=3, cheese was meltey and good, topppings were tasty.

Grannysaurus (4, flavorwise, very tasty, a fan of the beef!) - Large and in charge! RAD: Fresh jalapenos for pepper lovers. LAME: Not enough sour cream to go around.  I LOVE sour cream!  Love it! T:C Ratio=Not great…maybe a 2?  Yeah a 2.  Cha Cha Cha is always a fun spot.  I like the atmosphere and the art.  The art is super cool!

Katia (4.5) - Get here quick before they close!!!!  Mountainous platter!!! Beautiful!!! Meat!!! RAD: The beef is the best, Autumn was right.  Pork not so good.  CHicken lastes like curry.  Habanero Pineapple Salsa! LAME: No plates. T:C Ratio=Service ok.  Atmosphere hip & Jazzy!

Nacho Libra (4, a good pile with well-done traditional ingredients) - HUGE!  Colorful with the pico de gallo and guac. RAD: Real cheese!  Love that it comes with beans.  The pico de gallo & guac are fresh & yummy.  Crispy chips stand up to the cheese. LAME: Empty chips underneath…But good to eat up the rest of the salsa with.  LAME that Cha Cha Cha's is closing. T:C Ratio=3.5, lots of topping and good variety, but lots of empty chips, too.  The beef was the best meat - flavorful!  The chicken tasted like curry.  Service was sepctacular!  Loved the spicy pineapple habanero salsa.

Katie (5) - Amaze-balls!  The tower of nachos was almost as high as my drink glass which is awesome.  Fresh, real avocados for the guac. RAD: Sooooooo many nahcos…one plate could feed at least 4. LAME: Service was a little slow, but she was very courteous. T:C Ratio=Maybe a little too many hcips at the end, but I'm too far into my Cadillac margarita to care.  Big turn out, great fun seeing everyone.

Didio (4) - Good presentation. Big ass plate. RAD: Fresh avocado and jalapenos. LAME: Waiting for drinks! T:C Ratio=3, but that's because there were a shit load of chips.  Waitress in the weeds.

Cheree (3.5) - Beautiful presentation, first impression = impressive. RAD: The SIZE, the CHEESE. LAME: Not enough jalapenos, lacking salsa, lacking flavor. T:C Ratio=Well it looked good in the beginning but the bottom layer lacked in any toppings.  Service sucked.  Beer came 20 minutes after ordering and watiress came 20 minutes after sitting down.

Drew (4) - Nice, attention to detail. RAD: Lots o cheese n beans. LAME: Not enough jalaps. T:C Ratio=4.  Service slow beer, however server was in da weeds.

Caleb (3 - I'm gonna say three.  A boy! Do I dig Cheree.  She invited me.) - Happy to be here.  I came with an appettite.  This place looks nice. RAD: Attracctive people.  A pleasurable setting.  Nachos with my friends. LAME: I'm a nice person.  But there's too much refried bean.  On these damn nachos. T:C Ratio=Scale one to five.  I'll make this ratio a two.  I think I still dig.  Shannon is so cool.  She started this whole blog thing.  A creative girl.

Bo (4) - Good composition.  Tons of toppings with layers. RAD: That was the biggest plate of nachos I have seen. LAME: I couldn’t get a beer! T:C Ratio=4.  I thought it felt like Mexico.
