I met up with a friend of a friend for a lovely NACHO DATE in Chinatown. We did not know where we were going to get nachos, but we were determined to find them in Chinatown. We met at Downbeat, had a few cocktails and headed off on the nacho hunt. We did not have to hunt far, the Mexican restaurant across the street was open. They have limited hours where they are open in the evening (Wed-Fri 5pm to 9pm) so we were lucky. It is a small place with about six 4 tops, but large enough that the nacho connoisseurs can go back as a group. It is also BYOB which is amazing...always. Our waiter was extremely helpful and friendly but I forgot to write his name down. Sorry!

$10.97

tomato, onion, cilantro, choice of meat topping, beans, crema, homemade
salsa. |

The salsa is fresh and delish! |
Shananigans: (4) - It looks like a nacho flower, very lovely. Fresh ingredients, real cheese, mediocre size for the price. RAD: Fresh cilantro, homemade delicious salsa, sour cream, fresh chips nice and thin. LAME: No avocado, lacks spice, the thin chips make for nacho soup on the bottom. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4, he gave us more chips to make up for the soggy nachos...frankennachos! Flavorful ingredients but a little too pricy for the size. Had to use a fork to finish them which is nacho-k. Nachos are meant to be eaten with your hands!
RAZOR RAMON: (4) - Looks really pretty. Like they actually care about how it looks. RAD: They're delicious! The shredded beef is really good. LAME: The beef was all on top and the beans were all on bottom. They need to distribute toppings more evenly. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.
