Big Island Edition - Broke da mouth grindz

We worked up quite an appetite hiking down to the green sand beach.  Stopping at a couple restaurants outside of the touristy area of Kailua-Kona, we were surprised to see them closed for the holiday, but good on them.  I have slaved away many weekends, nights and holidays to the service industry and they deserve their time off too.  Andrey wanted to try something local and some meat so I found a place on YELP called Broke da mouth grindz.  When I walked into the quaint place and saw they had nachos...I knew what I was getting.  I was sad when the cashier told me that they were out of chips but before I could start thinking of ordering something new, she told me she could substitute fries.  Works for me!  The food took a bit, but it was super worth it.  Piled high with kalbi carne asada and fresh avocado, I was stoked!  Andrey sat across from me eating kalua pork, taro salad, lomi lomi, white rice and trying lau lau for the first time.  He said it was "interesting."

$8.99 - Nachos - Kalbi carne asada, tomatoes, onion, avocado, cheese, green onion, aioli

Shananigans (3.5) - Piled high with every ingredient enjoying its own quadrant in the box.  RAD:  fresh avocado and a lot of it.  The kalbi is soft and sweetly flavorful.  LAME: Complete lack of spice, hardly any cheese.  Topping to chip ratio:  4, there were plenty of toppings for all of the chips (in this case french fries).  I tried the house made chile sauce which they sell on the side so it must be good right?  It was!  On the vinegary side so it went super well with the fries like it does with fish and chips and the spice it added was just what I needed.  Being french fry nachos and smothered in toppings and chile sauce, they were quite messy so I ate them with chopsticks. More food should be eaten with chopsticks, it is just better that way.  I am sure my Russian friend thought I was quite odd eating french fry nachos with chopsticks.
