We didn't have a tour guide to take us around Denver and we didn't really know much about the city so we picked some local sites and headed out on foot. We walked around the Capitol district and went to the oldest bar (something we discovered would have been better to do at night to truly experience it.) We saws Coors Field and so many brick buildings. Denver really is a city of brick buildings. We all wanted to go to the art district so we googled it and headed out. We walked across a bridge and found ourselves in an "industrial area" with train tracks and businesses but google assured us the art district was just over yonder. We walked through what was obviously a homeless camping area. We finally arrived at this complex that must be a mix between artist lofts and some businesses. We tried to get coffee and they had just closed. We admitted defeat. Luckily for us, Tom's cousin was off work and rushed to our rescue. He picked us up and drove us across the train tracks and took us to where we had been trying to go. We had been so close at one point. Literally blocks from the gas station we had stopped to pee at. Grateful to our savior, we headed into the building and indulged in spicy margaritas and delicious nachos.
So cheesy!
This old warehouse building was transformed into some shops and restaurants inside. Seems to be the trend in the big cities across America. Industrial and allows for pop-up vendors. We went in for food and beer.
Not 'Yo Nachos $12 (add shrimp, steak or bacon for $5, chorizo or chicken for $4) - Comida house chips, blend of cotija, smoked gouda and asedero cheeses, black beans, avocado, crema and tomatillo chile verde
Tango Tango (4.75) –
PRESENTATION: Nice presentation, colorful pickled onions atop a
mountain of tortilla chip strips. RAD: Homemade chips have superior crispiness. Fresh delicious flavors, bacon!!!! LAME: Poor quality adhesion of toppings to chips. Cheese made sheets of toppings fall off. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.5, excellent ingredients, bacon is highly
recommended. Fresh chip strips, cheese,
black beans, avocado, pickled onion, salsa verde. Amazing.
I would love to have these again.
Very cool warehouse in Denver.
Neat environment.
Shananigans (4.9) – PRESENTATION: Beautiful with red color accent.
RAD: BACON. Stringy
cheese, black beans, crispy fried chips, wonderful flavors.
LAME: Not in Honolulu!
There is no spice and the toppings don't stick to the chips. TOPPING
TO CHIP RATIO: 4.75, love the pickled onions. So damn good.
Our waiter was super sexy and from Venezuela. Loved the concept of the warehouse shops. Half pop-up, half established. The music was the soundtrack of my high
school years: STP, Soundgarden, Bueno Vista Social Club.
