Dos Segundos in Philly - MAINLAND EDITION

Philly is really far away from Hawaii.  Almost 5,000 miles far.  I left Honolulu at 10pm on a Friday and after 2 plane changes arrived to Philly at 8pm on Saturday.  I was super exhausted, grungy from traveling for a day, and pretty out of it but determined to make the most of every moment of my vacation.  On my previous trip to Philly last fall, we ran out of time before we could eat any nachos. This trip we had 9 days to make nachos happen. After a couple cocktails on a beautiful boat, we headed to meet our 3rd amigo and decided on nachos for dinner.  Spoon's excitement and passion to participate made me so happy.  We devoured the nachos and I drank way too much tequila.  Only a few hours in Philly and already had a belly full of nachos.  I wasn't sure what the trip had in store without my normal heavily planned out itinerary.  With a fully belly and a warm heart, I knew that night that it was going to be amazing. I was one lucky lady to get to spend 9 whole days with these two rad dudes. The nachos weren't so bad either.  Not the best I have ever had but far from the worst.

I just love his adorable face in the background

Nachos - Large $10, Small $7: roasted corn, black beans, pickled jalapenos, chihuahua, pico de gallo, crema
(chicken + $5, steak + $7, vegan beef + $4, make it vegan + $5)

Heaping pile

Naked chips under the first layer

Spoon Ferguson (3.9) - PRESENTATION: Beautiful web holding my prize.  Felt like I ordered a steak then decided to get nachos and they gave me both...very pleased. RAD: Perfect chips. Jalapenos (Jel-lap-pinos) were pungent.  Once again steak was full and plumb.  LAME: There was a gaggle of hipsters surrounding our party on all sides.  I fear like we may not make the dawn.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.2, well done.  Layering is tough and you risk the body of the chip or must sacrifice some toppings.  To find the proper balance is bliss!  Classic and great.  Endless tequila options.  Favorite restaurant in Philly.  Come visit!  dirtysoapbluesband.com

Wayne Sangria (3+) - PRESENTATION: Good drizzle, where are the tomatoes? Steak and creme fresa.  RAD: Heaping steak on top, hidden corn and tomato inside. LAME: Not enough spice, needs hot, tomatillos, or fresh hot.  Cheese a little congealed, not stretchy. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3, more chips than toppings but pretty good. Crowded and fun.

He looks so scared of the nachos...
Shananigans (3.5) - PRESENTATION: Nice pile, real cheese, baked chips.  RAD: Layered decently, real cheese, the corn was super yummy, flavorful beans, jalapeno kick.  Hanging out with these dudes.  LAME: Chips get soggy.  I cannot read my own writing. I want to live closer to this man.  TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4, lots of toppings but not really enough chips. Good flavor and generous portions.  Kick ass jukebox.  They have so many tequilas, I want them all.  They have my favorite and it's only $18 a shot.  Ha!

The corn was super yummy but hidden in the middle

My favorite stairs.  All stairs should be painted.
