There’s a bar in Orefield, Pennsylvania called the Leather
Corner Post. On Wednesdays, they have
open mic night. Since we were nearby
while staying at the cabin, we headed into Orefield so the boys could play some
of their magnificent music. We were a
little late getting out of the cabin but we made it just in time for the boys
to get their names on the list. We were
instantly greeted by the talented saxophone player, Chuck. He had met the boys at a previous open mic
night. It was adorable how him
and Spoon matched their outfits. Even
though we were full from our epic afternoon campfire cabin nachos, we
saw that the Leather Corner Post had nachos on the menu and just had to do
it. They were your standard pub nachos
with nothing really special about them.
What was special was being at the Leather Corner Post in Orefield,
Pennsylvania. We had some drinks while
the other musicians played and I made friends with some of the local ladies.
They were entranced by my stories about Hawaii and quite in love with my union
jack sequin dress. Hopefully they will all come for a visit to Hawaii one day!
The boys played a set of 3 great songs with Chuck standing
in on saxophone and rocked the house. You can check out a couple of videos from
their performance at the end of this blog.

Spoon Ferguson (3.2) –
PRESENTATION: Tomatoes, tomatoes, let’s go!
I’m in trouble. Classic nachos. RAD:
Chili is the best. Rad! Oooo Old
School. LAME: Not fancy, basic and quick. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3, not bad.
Poured it on and cheesed it up. I love the Leather Corner Post. We are in the country eating nachos.
Wayne Sangria (3.75) –
PRESENTATION: Chili & cheese! Lots of tomato, Shan is going to puke. RAD: Guac and sour cream. Open mic night. Chuck!!!
LAME: The Professor wasn’t
here. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: At
first I doubted then was proven wrong by the Sysco god. Someone just played a
Ricky Martin song?!?!

Shananigans (2) –
PRESENTATION: So many gross tomatoes, if I eat those I am going to puke.
WTF is that lettuce?!? Sacrilege. RAD: I get to see the “Soup” band
tonight. Guac is surprisingly tasty. Nachos in Shane’s beard. LAME: Stale chips, 7-11 cheese,
tomatoes suck, lettuce doesn’t belong on
nachos. It’s not called Nacho Salad. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 2.5, pile of
slop with lots of empty chips. The nachos sucked but the company was stellar
and the atmosphere the best. I love everything about dive bars. Chuck was the coolest dude I have met in a
while. I want to go back!
