Casa Tequila Tokyo JAPAN EDITION

Wandering around the neighborhood before our Robot Restaurant show in Tokyo, we stumbled upon a Mexican restaurant. I talked Dusty into scoping out the place with a cocktail before our show. The chef and waitress were so friendly that I talked Dusty into going back after the show so we could try the nachos. I am so glad we did. One of the things I regret about my huge Europe trip this year is that I didn't try more nachos in more countries. They were there, but I was so full the entire trip because we were eating everything we could that was local. Everything in Japan is so interesting and fun so I was very curious as to how they made nachos.

We ordered the beef dish and it was super yummy. When I first put the chip to my mouth, I was reminded of the smell of sloppy joes but when I tasted it, there was no sloppy joe flavor. The toppings were fresh and the chips were homemade. The salsa was more of just a tomato puree without a lot of flavor, but they gave a valiant effort. We made friends with some other Americans traveling and had a super time.

780 yen, not a bad price at all

PRESENTATION: Ooh there's beans in here, are they kidney beans though LOL?  RAD: They pickled the onions and took the shitty flavor out of them. LAME: Salsa is like tomatoes with no other flavor or spice.  Even though the onions are a thousand times better pickled, still wish they were on the side. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.9, almost perfect, actually maybe a 5. Shrimp would have been awesome. Americans would just throw some raw ass onions on there and ruin it. The pickled onions make it. Not sure if the green pieces are bell pepper or jalapeno. When we ate one on its own, the answer is neither. What are you mystery green pieces? Some of the best nachos he's ever had, the flavors are better than most, the cheese is good, great salt...perhaps all the cold draft beers have influenced this opinion. OVERALL: 4
