We tried to go to Mi Almita but they were filming some movie. They told us it should be done soon so we went to Legends to kill some time. Legends is always a blast and we made friends with some Canadians. Every so often someone would look across the street to see if they were still filming. And they were. We finally decided that we were all getting super hungry and a little too buzzed waiting for this restaurant to open up for us. After a couple hours, we decided we would have to improvise. It took us a minute to find a place in the neighborhood the Nacho Friends have not already visited. We finally decided on ShorFyre just down the road. We had some lovely outside seating and a really fun server named Damien who took great care of our now rambunctious (and starving) group.
Full disclosure: a few of us may have been in Chinatown earlier in the day drinking tequila at Hanks so we might not remember these as well as we should have. A second visit may be required. Also, tequila may have something to do with the quality (or lack there of) of these photos. Sorry friends! I blame Curtis.

KOH (4) – PRESENTATION: Great portion. Could use more toppings to cover the
chips.
RAD: Fresh cut jalapenos, delish.
LAME: Diced chicken instead of pulled. Not hot. Chips are
kinda stale. Could offer guac instead of sliced avocado.
TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3. Damien the server is awesome. Chill spot right
beside a board shop. Close to the beach.
Jim (4.5) – PRESENTATION: Outside, music, colorful, red and green peppers.
RAD: Spontaneous
Eve! I'm hungry. Fresh peppers, good color. LAME: Looks like movie cheese sauce….BUT NOT!!!
TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5, still got a bunch of toppings left over. Super fun
atmosphere.

Shizue (3) – PRESENTATION: Big portion, nice color.
RAD: Peppers are fresh. LAME: Chips are slightly stale, not enough topping. There
was fryer residue on the chips.
TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 3. I've had better. I've had worse. Queso has an eggy
taste. I got a random french fry! BONUS
HAIKU: Worker bees can leave. Even
drones can fly away. The queen is their slave.
Small KAP
Grindz (2) – PRESENTATION: Good delivery/presentation.
RAD: Next to Wang Chungs. Has wife. Staff having a good
time. Kalua pork is good. Good company.
LAME: No drink coasters. Liquid cheese sauce. Stale chips
with oily aftertaste…really weird bitter aftertaste.
TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: Good portion but could use more. Chicken, avocado,
jalapeno, tomato, liquid cheese. Chicken could be more flavorful. Not a fan of
liquid cheese. A third of the plate was left with hardly any topping. The
service was great! Good vibes overall
but would order other foods aside from nachos. Can we go to Wang Chungs now?

Sean (4) – PRESENTATION: Great presentation. Looks super yummy. Good portion.
Toppings look fresh. RAD: Good Tito's Soda. Cool atmosphere, good music. People
checking in surfboards at rental, cool to imagine the day they had surfing. LAME: Chips a little weak and oily. Housemade but maybe oil
was too old. TOPPING
TO CHIP RATIO: Delicious and good ratio. Damien was a rad server but
he didn't offer us share plates. Really enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere.
Shananigans (4) – PRESENTATION: Big plate…is that lettuce??? $2 more for ???(I can't
read my own writing…I think tequila may have been involved).
RAD: Fresh jalapenos, something is great (again, can't read
my own writing).
LAME: Chips get soggy instantly.
TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4, super wet so super soggy. Meat has good flavor, the
cheese is well distributed. Love the outdoor seating and that they last minute
took us. Maybe a thicker chip would be better because of how wet all the
toppings were.
