Murphy's Irish Pub - PUERTO VALLARTA EDITION

On our first full day in Puerto Vallarta, we walked from our hotel in Zona Romantica all the way to the end of the Malecon. It was hot out so we had to make a few stops along the way for snacks and margaritas. When I saw the Murphy's Irish Pub on the second story of one of the buildings on the Malecon, we just had to stop. I have this thing for Irish Pubs. On the menu they had not one, but TWO varieties of nachos. It was our lucky day.

First we tried the "Irish nachos" which were basically french fries with cheese and some pico de gallo. As soon as he dropped the plate we realized we made a huge mistake. I cannot eat tomatoes and Brandy does not eat cilantro. They didn't just have a little dollop of pico in the middle. They were covered from end to end in this tomato and cilantro mix. We tried to pick it off but it was on every single french fry. The cilantro was especially hard for Brandy to eat around. The flavors were basic and had zero pizazz. I thought the menu said it had beans, but there were no beans on the plate. These should be renamed "tomato fries" since that's basically what they are. They earned a solid 2 from us and that was mostly because the fries were actually thick and okay if you could get one that wasn't smothered with everything we don't like. TOTALLY our fault that we didn't order the salsa on the side. On a good note, the view was awesome, our waiter was incredibly friendly, and our cocktails were delicious.

Still hungry after the small portion of Irish nachos, we decided we would order the regular nachos. This time, we were smart and ordered the salsa on the side. What a difference that made! They were simple nachos with housemade chips smothered in cheese and some beans. That's it, simple and delicious. I liked that they didn't skimp on the cheese because that's my favorite part. All the cheese! Sometimes simple wins. These were yummy and just what we needed after trying to eat the tomato fries. My only critique is that I would have liked some spice, maybe some jalapeno slices.

Overall we had a lovely break from the sun and enjoyed some yummy cocktails. I can barely remember how crappy those Irish Nachos tasted but I will never forget sipping on drinks with my bestie and enjoying that view.

Somehow we were able to get a quick shot without a million other tourists

Having fun with one of the many sculptures of the Malecon

Our waiter was fabulous and remembered our names when we stopped by again at the end of the week.

I would like to be drinking this cold and delicious margarita now!

Lizards love Guiness too!

One of my favorite records I own.
