WBCK with Nate

Let me tell you about my friend Nate. He is one of my favorite people in the world. I met him months after I moved to the island. Moving to Hawaii was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me but that first year was rough. I was the most broke I have ever been in my life. I didn't know anyone. I started to make friends but some of them weren't the best. Nate came into my life and was awesome. It's been about 9 years now and he is still one of my favorite people. He put up with me hiking week after week almost always with a hangover. I am not the most pleasant person when I am exerting myself and extremely hungover LOL. He always supports me and the community with whatever fundraisers I am organizing. He is super fun to go out with and although he may seem quiet, he gets totally crazy. He is the best friend you could ask for.

Sometimes we go long periods of time without seeing each other because he is always doing crazy races. And then sometimes he randomly texts me to meet him for a pau hana cocktail in Chinatown. This was one of those nights and it had been like a year since we saw each other. We both had a lot to catch up on. What started as a couple of drinks at SIN turned into nachos at Waikiki Brewing Company Kakaako and I am pretty sure we stopped at either the Rose or Suzie Wong's on the way home. The details are fuzzy.

How can you not love that face?

Some of the best nachos on the island at Waikiki Brewing Company Kakaako. Yummy BBQ meat, fresh avocado, Jalapeno Mouth beer cheese and fresh sliced jalapenos. These are always a win. My pro-tip is to order a side of BBQ sauce and drizzle that shit all over the nachos. It takes them from great to extraordinary just like that. Also, I always get an extra side of beer cheese because honestly there's never enough cheese.
