Wang Chungs + Aloha Beer Company TOTCHO & BEER PAIRING

What's better than a night of yummy food at Wang Chungs?!?!  A night of three delicious totchos paired with three delicious beers from Aloha Beer Company!!!! Nom nom nom nom nom. For $14 you got a sampler of beer AND different totchos specially created to match each beer. What a deal!!!

Santa Fe Tots: Seasoned ground chicken, pico de gallo, black beans, corn, Same Same beer cheese paired with the Same Same American Pale Ale.

Brats 'N Tots: Chicken beer brats, sautéed peppers, nacho cheese paired with Waimanalo Farmhouse Saison.

Tots o' the Morning to You: Chorizo egg scramble, bacon gravy, shredded cheese paired with Red Zeppelin Traditional IPA.

You could also order a full order of the super yummy Okonomiyaki totchos that were part of the permanent Wang Chungs menu at the time. Dan in is ever amazingness, sent an order to our table so we could have the ultimate totcho experience.

Even though Carmageddon prevented a lot of people from showing up and it was a pretty quiet night, we had so much fun! Kellyn and Kaiao were such a blast to hang out with and totally got on board with the nacho fun.

Shananigans (4.25) - PRESENTATION: Big plate of tots! Variety of cheeses. I don't even have to share. RAD: TOTS! Beer cheese pairs perfectly with the seasoned chicken. Chicken brat flavor is GOOD, blends, perfectly. LAME: Can't get these all the time. Damn special events. Where's my spicy sauce? Traffic blows, everyone is late. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4, enough toppings for all totchos. All are menu quality. The okonomiyaki totchos are super ono!  Those benito flakes! Kaiao and Kellyn are so great. Thanks for supporting such a great event.

Nacho Libra (5) - PRESENTATION: Large plate of totchos! Should be for sharing, but i will try to do it on my own. RAD: They're made to pair with each beer! Gotta love a sampler that you can try all the things. Beer cheese! And two bonus totchos from Dan! LAME: Lots of tater tots can overwhelm the toppings. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 4.5. The Santa Fe tots were my fave!

Aloha Beer (5) - PRESENTATION: Looks delicious! RAD: Santa Fe tots were great! LAME: I had to share these with my girlfriend. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5. Great spot, good fun, and great service. I learned how to do IG Live.

Celestial Seasonings (3.5) - PRESENTATION: They looked nice, three piles of totchos arranged on the plate. RAD: The waiter (Randy) knew which one was which. Brats & tots were super good!  LAME: They were cold. Not all had queso. Shredded cheese on tots is sort of lame. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: Looked good to me, others had naked tots. Totchos need liquid cheese.

Ry (3) - PRESENTATION: On first glance the Santa Fe tots caught my attention, the bold black beans set against a sea of golden inspired me. RAD: There is nothing more rad than having totchos with friends. But, if I had to choose, beer brats FTW! LAME: Where the F is the cilantro and lime? All great nachos/totchos have these key elements. My god give us a queso fresco at least! TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: Toppings are acceptable on all. I would like to see a sauce, avocado, or some green to diversify the presentation. While all totchos were awesome, I must deduct points for lack of sour cream, cilantro, and avocado. Also, more cheese needed, no dry tots! Everything is awesome, everything is cool when you are a part of a totcho team.

JQPineapple (4) - PRESENTATION: Nice selection, good topping ratio, everything looks fresh. RAD: The Santa Fe tots! Nom nom nom. LAME: Tots are too overwhelming to support the other flavors. TOPPING TO CHIP RATIO: 5, great ratio!
